Arthur Singer - Vintage "Bluebird" Print #2 of #8 in Series
Arthur Singer
Vintage Arthur Singer framed bird print originally commissioned in 1957 for the American Home Magazine. This is #2 of his 8 print series. Featuring the Eastern and Mountain Bluebird—the state bird of Idaho, Missouri, Nevada, and New York—this piece also highlights the iconic flora and fauna of those regions: Idaho Lewis Mockorange, Missouri Hawthorne, Nevada Sagebrush, and New York Rose. The 15 x 12-1/2 glass covered black wood-look frame with gold accents holds the 10 x 13 print with a dark gray mat. The mat covers part of the copy so you can remove it if you prefer to see the full print. You will note that the frame is really old with a hook strung with wire hanger and small nails to hold the backing in place. There is residual paper around the back of the frame edge because the paper backing was pulled off. There are also two chips in the gold accent trim, which could probably be touched up with some gold paint. I would advise not attempting to remove the print from the backing as they are very old and the tape does not remove easily without tearing the paper. I learned this the hard way when I tried to reframe one of the other prints (#1 Cardinal, see separate listing). I originally purchased several already framed prints at an auction, then later found an entire set unframed. Feel free to ask questions! Bundle to Save!
