Bilsma (Baroque Cello) J.S. Bach / Complete Cello Suites (2CD)
12.54 $
Description
A 2-CD set featuring J.S. Bach's Suites for Unaccompanied Cello. Performed by Anner Bijlsma on a baroque cello made in 1669. For the 6th Suite, he uses a violoncello piccolo made in 1700.
This performance, lacking any sharp edges, makes one wonder if this is Bach's unaccompanied cello suites in their true form. While there are many other recordings considered masterpieces, this one is also an invaluable performance.
Bijlsma recorded these suites on CD twice; this is his first recording. (His second recording was made in 1992).
[Please note that the plastic CD tray has some discoloration due to age.]
[We are also offering Rostropovich's recording of the same work separately, so please take a look if you are interested.]
